Economics

Economics is a very useful and interesting subject and it is highly valued by top Universities.

In Economics students learn how people’s needs and wants are met. Students gain a good insight into how countries operate and they will learn different economic theories. The course covers the OCR A-level specification - units 1 and 2 are covered at AS level and units 3 and 4 are covered at A2 level. The units consist of:

Unit 1 - Markets In Action
Unit 2 - National & International Economy
Unit 3 - Economics of Work & Leisure
Unit 4 - The Global Economy

Economics is a very popular subject and most students who join the course come from different backgrounds. Some students go on to pursue Economics at University. This subject opens many doors to different careers such as Banking, Finance and Government civil service.

Economics is taught using a variety of teaching methods. Students will use ICT based resources that will enhance their learning skills. They will also participate in group work so that they develop analytical and critical thinking skills.

This excellent achievement by Abbey College London’s students and staff is also set within the context of the College focusing on mathematics, sciences and economics; in other words what are regarded by many, including the top universities, as the traditional, more difficult A-levels.
